Grave Peril

Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, Book 3) - Jim Butcher

Grave Peril is the third novel in The Dresden Files, which follows the character of Harry Dresden, present-day Chicago's only professional wizard.

There has been a rush of ghosts and other paranormal creatures around Chicago, that have become increasingly active and dangerous although neither Harry or Michael know why. They team up and encounter the agitated ghost of Agatha Hagglethorn in the nursery of the Cook County hospital. It leads them to the nevernever where Michael is able to stab Agatha's ghost with his sword Amoracchius but they discover someone had purposely placed barbed wire inside of her (a tormenting spell) that drove her mad. Harry is greeted by his evil fairy godmother Lea. She owns his life and goes through great pains to find him but it's always a bad time for Harry and he constantly evades her for the simple reason he's always busy and has a monster to catch. In any case Harry was young when he gave his life to her.

This book was of a much personal nature and I thought the Character of Michael was poorly introduced. I also disliked him. He was too much of an ordinary simpleton despite that he wielded a sword and killed evil creatures. I do know that he is Harry's friend and Molly, his apprentices' father, but still. I just felt a conflict of interest there.
